WEEK 1: Reading Clefs, Building Scales, & Understanding Key Signatures

FOLLOWING THESE LESSONS AND QUIZZES STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:

  • Accurately Read Pitches on Treble, Bass, Alto, and Tenor Clefs

  • Demonstrate How Key Signatures are Constructed for Major and Minor Keys

  • Explain and Identify How the Follow Scales are Constructed: Major, Minor (Natural, Harmonic, Melodic), Pentatonic, and Diatonic Modes.

20 questions with a 10 minute time limit regarding the identification of notes on treble, bass, alto, and tenor clefs. 

QUIZ NO. 2

10 questions with a 10 minute time limit regarding the construction of notes on treble, bass, alto, and tenor clefs. NOTE: you may write the requested pitch in any octave of the given clef (up to two ledger lines).

VIDEO NO. 2 - Scales: Major & Minor

QUIZ NO. 1

10 questions with a 20 minute time limit regarding the identification of major, natural minor, harmonic minor, and melodic minor scales (on all four clefs we have learned thus far).

QUIZ NO. 2

10 questions with a 30 minute time limit regarding the construction of major, natural minor, harmonic minor, and melodic minor scales (on all four clefs we have learned thus far).

NOTE: this quiz will require you to add accidentals to create the requested scale. Be mindful of correct spelling.
